Marcel Khalife

Marcel Khalifa is a Lebanese musician, singer and composer who was born in small village in north Beirut in 1950. Marcel Khalifa is one of the most committed arab artists to the Palestenian cause. In 1979, Marcel Khalifa created Al Mayadeen Ensemble (an arabic plural word meaning battlefields). Marcel Khalifa and his group relied much on the Mahmoud Darwish's poetry (Mahmoud Darwish is a palestenian engaged modernist poet). Marcel Khalifa's artistic works reflected his revolutionary aspirations because of which he went through many hardships.
